Well-being and learning
Pupils have the right to a good school environment. A safe and positive school environment is a prerequisite for pupils being able to learn, and for schools to be able to fulfil their mandate.
The vast majority of pupils thrive at school and experience friendship and a sense of belonging, and receive good support from their teachers. Nevertheless, pupils' well-being and motivation has somewhat decreased over time, and there are now more pupils than before who state that they are bored at school. Truancy has also become more widespread.
Over half of pupils report feeling stressed by schoolwork. Most of the pupils who experience stress are in Year 10 and Level Vg3, and more girls than boys experience stress.
Many municipalities want more expertise on how to strengthen school and learning environments so that it promotes good mental health.
Most apprentices enjoy themselves and are motivated to learn.
6 per cent of pupils and nearly 4 per cent of apprentices have experienced being bullied at school or in the workplace.
